Eng vs Neth T20 WC Result - Holland upset England in a last ball thriller

Cricket World Cup has the rich history of upsets and it started in the opening match itself of the 2009 ICC Twenty20 World Cup, as minnows Netherlands beats host England in the opening match on the last ball of the match on Friday, 5th June, 2009 at Lord's, London.
England made 162/5 in 20 overs and Netherlands made 163/6 in 20 overs.




England started well with in-form batsman Ravi Bopara and Luke Wright put a 102 runs partnership in 11 overs contributed 46 of 34 balls and 71 runs of 49 balls respectively. But they scored only 60 runs in next 9 overs to made 162/5 in 20 overs.

Netherlands batted brilliantly even though they lost 2 early wickets and they were always ahead of England in the entire match. They needed 7 runs in the last over bowled by Stuart Broad who missed an easy run out when 2 runs needed on the last ball and Holland registered a thrilling last ball win.
